Our history dates back to 1951 where we started as the Danish agent for German Schering AG. Since then, Scanpharm has transformed into a recognized pharma company with global reach. From a humble beginning in a small local setup, Scanpharm today has its own GMP manufacturing site within-house laboratory located in Birkerød just outside Copenhagen, Denmark, capable of meeting worlwide demand for CMO and contract laboratory services as well as having own products.
Scanpharm is a family-owned company and has for more than 30 years been owned by Ole Bjørn Jensen, and his wife Hanne Bjørn Jensen. Before acquiring Scanpharm in 1992, Ole and Hanne owned the reputable contract laboratory Steins Laboratories. In 2019, Andreas Bjørn Jensen, son of Ole and Hanne, took over as CEO of the company, while Ole and Hanne remain heavily involved in the continuous long term vision and succes of Scanpharm.

Andreas Bjørn Jensen is appointed CEO of Scanpharm A/S, and Ole and Hanne Bjørn Jensen takes the role as members of the Board of Directors.
Scanpharm continues the planned growth strategy, and considerable investments are made in state-of-the-art technology, with a new coater, as well as new compression and laboratory equipment is installed. This makes Scanpharm able to fulfil the growing demand and technical capabilities increasingly requested by our successful customers.
